Frequently Asked Questions

Why should we work with Goodlife Psychology?

Research and sound psychological models, as well as our extensive experience working with a range of settings, are embedded within everything we do. We work to a 'positive psychology' model because we believe that all children should flourish and thrive, building on their strengths and feeling good about themselves. We will help you to deepen your understanding of how children experience education and why they respond in the ways they do. This involves working out what they find hard but also, and more importantly, what they can do well and how this can be used to support their well-being and learning. We use child-centred approaches because we believe that children and young people, and their families or carers, need to have their views and perspectives heard and that involving them as much as possible in any problem solving or assessment process is the best way of motivating and supporting change. Rather than offering generic 'off the peg' support we can help you assess what your requirements are and adjust our offer to you accordingly. We can offer support for implementation, supervision and review as well as high quality advice. This way we make sure that our support will have the greatest possible impact on the experiences of adults and children in your organisation and community.

Will you work in my school, academy or organisation?  We work in primary and secondary schools and academies in the state and private sector. We also work with pre-schools and colleges, in special settings and mainstream. We can work outside of educational settings where this is appropriate and also for the voluntary sector.

Who do you work with? We work with children and young people of all ages as well as teachers, SENCOs, senior leaders, teaching assistants, parents and carers. Our aim is to help the adults who support children on a regular basis gain a better understanding of those children's needs so that they can help them to develop and thrive. This can be related to individual or groups of children but often can involve professional development work with groups of adults. We also work with practitioners or volunteers from other sectors, for example health, social care or the voluntary sector.
